About the Michana Amateur Radio Club, W9AB
MARC is an ARRL-affiliated amateur radio club with Special Service status. The club was first incorporated in 1947, with documents showing club activities in 1946. MARC serves the Michiana area, including South Bend, Mishawaka, and Granger in Indiana, Niles and Buchanan in Michigan, and surrounding communities.
MARC's ARRL Special Service Club status indicates that part of the MARC mission is to provide training and community service in the Michiana area. Among other duties, the club provides educational opportunities in the form of licensing classes and examinations, educational presentations at monthly meetings (which are open to members and nonmembers alike), and community events such as Science Alive! at the St. Joseph County Public Library.
